  1. Ta Shira K Miday

    Mr. Rose;

    My name is Ta-Shira and I am trying to help change some of what is happening in the community and how police officers deal with stress. I want to see that officer’s are seeing a clinician for therapy. To be a part the requirement as a police officer during a 40-hour work week and still get paid for that one hour but you’re required to see a clinician your jobs would be safe. Nothing reports back to the Department unless you need to be on Family Medical Leave Act (but there would be no disclosure other than you need to go on leave )or you’re a danger to yourself or the environment that you’re working in. Then this has to be reported I’m looking at the statistical research for this I would really like your input I appreciate this.

  2. I was a 12 year veteran of the Detroit police department I was a motor man in the 10th precinct at the time of my retirement, I was struck by another scout car while on my department bike and after the broken bones healed and the surgeries failed I was given disability retirement and thrown out like garbage. Shortly after retiring it was very apparent that I was not well mentally I was diagnosed with severe ptsd by my therapist I pay for my treatment out of pocket, I’ve been left for dead by my department. My life is not as dark now as it was it’s been almost 4 years since I retired and I still have bad days if there are opportunities to help young officers before they wind up like me I would love to be part of it. Unlike the military we get horrified 8 hours at a time then go play real life come back the next day then repeat for 25 years no one has any idea what that does to you unless you’ve been there.
